Cooney Thatcher An album I've been waiting for for quite a long time. Caudill plays with well honed command and an emotional depth resultant of his remarkable intentionality. The compositions are each thoughtful balances of virtuosic through-composition and vehicles for Caudill and the others' deft improvisations. Favorite track: Frozen in Time.
Eric Smith

Eric Smith Moody Street Sessions finds Caudill in typical stellar form. The compositions run the gamut from calm and intimate duos to vibrant quartet pieces with piano or guitar to evocative solo saxophone and everything in between. Some of Boston’s best musicians come together to bring Caudill’s compositions alive and create a product even greater than the sum of its parts. You will not want to miss this release. Favorite track: Frozen in Time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Moody Street Sessions is a project that’s been a longtime coming for me. Since moving into my current studio space 2 years ago, I’ve hosted some playing sessions and begun experimenting with recording my original compositions using an old digital recorder that my father used for live recording around the year 2000. I felt an increased need to play and record my music because of a growing number of unperformed compositions that dated back to the start of the pandemic. In 2020, as I lost most opportunities to have my music played, I simultaneously gained extra time to compose. Through 2020 and early 2021, I had several stretches of months on end composing almost every day. This accelerated output of ideas and sketches in my notebook created a backlog of compositions that had not seen the light of day, which started to trouble me. This project developed organically from material recorded over several sessions, sometimes months apart. While this collection features material from 5 different sessions, there were many other recordings from other sessions that I couldn’t include for a variety of reasons. I would be remiss if I didn’t thank all the amazing people who came to my space for a session over the past 18 months.

Thank you so much to the incredible musicians, Dave, Max, Greg, Cat, Steve, and George, who brought my compositions on this album to life and helped me experiment with different recording techniques in my small studio space. It's an honor. Special thanks to Craig Caudill, Tom Kelley, Dave Fox, Eric Smith, Blain Crawford, Cat Tremblay, and Shannon Dyer for your invaluable input on the mixes and music. Thank you to my saxophone mentors Felipe Salles and Lynn Klock, and all my music professors at UMass, for the solid foundations. A huge thank you to my family for your continued support of what I do, and especially to Shannon, my love, for putting up with my obsessive listening behaviors and for giving me the energy to keep creating and expressing myself through new music.
